Kansas Driver’s License Hearing
Aggressively Defending Clients for Over 25 YearsDriver’s License Hearings in Kansas
Need an attorney for a driver’s license hearing in Kansas?
When you are stopped by law enforcement in Kansas on a suspicion of driving under the influence, you will be asked to submit to a breath test to determine your blood alcohol concentration (BAC). If your BAC is at or above the legal limit of 0.08% or if you refuse to take a breath or blood test, your license will be confiscated by the attending police officer.
You will be issued a fourteen-day driving permit along with instructions on how to apply for a driver's license hearing. You will have fourteen days to request a hearing or your license will automatically be suspended. If you request a hearing within the time frame, your permit will be extended until your DUI case has been resolved.

What happens at the hearing?
At the hearing, the issues that will be taken up include whether there was reasonable cause for the police officer to arrest you for a DUI and what the breath test results were or whether you refused to submit to a test. If the hearing officer rules against you, you will lose your license, followed by a period in which you will be required to install and use an ignition interlock device in your vehicle. As of July 1, 2011, license suspensions range from thirty days to one year with six months to several years of being required to drive only with an ignition interlock device. If you refused to take a breath test, your license suspension will extend for one year, followed by a year to several years of the ignition interlock device.
As of July 1, 2011, if your license has been suspended, you may be able to obtain a hardship license using an ignition interlock device within forty-five days in order to drive to work, school, and alcohol classes. "Great Lawyer!"
Great Lawyer! Really communicates well with you, and explains everything in great detail. He is the only lawyer that answered at 6:30 PM at night, and spoke to me over the phone for a long time as I explained my story and he explained the process. I would recommend him to anyone who is in this situation.

"When your back is against the wall legally, call STEVE SCHANKER!!!!"
Steve Schanker ESQ, where do I begin? Having been raised by a prominent Trial Attorney and having several other family members as attorneys, as well as having attended Law School myself, however choosing management as my career instead of the law, I believe I have a great body of knowledge of how to determine a great lawyer. Steve has defended me in two different extremely challenging situations. The first time I met Steve was in an extremely stressful DUI situation. I had spoken with a number of attorneys about my situation and most did not want to take the case on. I had a BAC of .14 and was pulled over driving 102mph on highway 70. Steve told me it was not a wise decision, however he also said he could help me. End result was not losing my license, a few hours of community service, and a Suspended Imposition of Sentence (SIS) which equates to not being convicted. Incredible result that I probably did not deserve which effectively saved my career! The second time I hired Steve was an even better result. I had just purchased a new car, and stupidly decided to see what it could do. I was taken out of my car after driving near 100mph in a 60mph stretch of road again, stupid ...I know, I was cuffed on the side of the road thinking I had really screwed myself this time around. However, I then called Steve and gave him the laundry list of charges including evading a police officer, road rage, the speeding etc....5 charges in all. What did Steve accomplish in my defense you may ask? He had 3 of the 5 charges dismissed entirely and two reduced to defective muffler status. 0 points, 0 moving violations......INCREDIBLE! If you ever have a legal need in any area that Steve specializes in you would be wise to hire Steve. Simply put he gets results! I wrote earlier my life experience helps me determine greatness in Attorneys, however that word doesn't describe Steve as a lawyer correctly....Simply put..... he is the BEST at what he does. I can't thank you enough Steve! JP- John PLeawood, KS -
